After FREDERIC REMINGTON “The Cheyenne” Bronze Sculpture

SOLD

Cast from original molds by American artist Frederic Remington (1861-1909), this bronze sculpture depicts a Native American figure racing on horseback. Titled “The Cheyenne”, the original bronze version of this sculpture was cast in 1907 and now resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Standing on a freeform base, this bronze sculpture displays Remington’s cast signature at the base of the sculpture and displays a beautiful patina.

About the Artist:
Born in Canton, New York in 1861, Frederic Remington became an American sculptor and illustrator that specialized in depictions of Native Americans and the culture surrounding the old west. He attended school at Yale University for art, the only male student of his freshmen class. He traveled to Montana to purchase a cattle farm and then a mine operation, and after realizing that he couldn’t afford either, fell in love with the authentic west, drawing the people he would see on his travels.

CURTIS JERÉ Train Station Sculpture

SOLD
Fabricated from metal, this sculpture by Curtis Jeré depicts a small diorama of a train station, complete with baggage trolley and rails. This sculpture features beautiful areas of patina that contrast with the stylized form of this sculpture’s quaint subject matter. A railroad crossing sign and tree crafted from sheets of brass complete the decorative appeal of this charming sculpture. Signed “C. Jeré” on the base of the sculpture by the artists. About the Artist: C. Jeré is a compound nom de plume of Jerry Fels and Curtis Freiler, two brother-in-laws. They were metalworking artists who focused on home accessories and wall sculptures. The works of C. Jeré were produced and marketed by Artisan House, an art production for the average consumer that was founded by the duo in 1963. Freiler was the chief of production and Fels was the chief of design. They employed a great number of minorities and handicapped people and at one point employed 300 people. They sold the company in 1972. Early C. Jeré works were produced in California, but continue to be made overseas since the company’s outsourcing in 2003. Freiler passed away in 2008, Fels in 2013 at 103 years old. This sculpture is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! JAMES PRADIER (1790-1852) “La Toilette d’Atalante” Bronze Sculpture

$2,500.00
Bronze sculpture by French artist James Pradier (1790-1852) depicts the Arcadian heroine Atalanta, a huntress who was allied with the goddess Artemis. From mythology, Atalanta would agree to marry the suitor that could outrun her. If they were to fail, however, they would be put to death. Praidier’s historical reputation as a most competent artist is exhibited on full display with this gorgeous neoclassical sculpture. This figure of Atalanta kneels against a base denoting Pradier’s signature and the Susse Foundry seal, offering a beautiful rendition of Pradier’s original marble masterpiece.  About the Artist: Born Jean Jacques Pradier in the Republic of Geneva in 1790, James Pradier moved to Paris in 1807 for work before studying at the École des Beaux-Arts beginning in 1808. He won a Prix de Rome that enabled him to study in Rome from 1814 to 1818 at the Villa Medici and made his debut at the Salon in 1819, quickly acquiring a reputation as a talented artist. In 1827, he became a member of the Académie des beaux-arts and a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Pradier oversaw the finish of his sculptures himself and his workshop served as a meeting place for the artists of Paris. Pradier continued to work until his death in 1852, after which the contents of his studio were purchased by the city museum of Geneva. This sculpture is amongst hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
