This original terracotta sculpture by Russian-born American artist Alexander Ney (1939-) depicts a striking, contemporary portrait bust of an elongated face with eyes comically squinted, its surface punctuated with heavy perforation. Best known for his unique take on clay and terracotta sculpture, Ney emigrated to the United States in 1974 with the encouragement of Elaine de Kooning and currently resides and works in New York City where he is a regular staple amongst the gallery and museum circuit. Resting on an included, modern base, this original sculpture is stamped with Ney’s studio insignia on its underside.
